Light
Daylight at the window, without direct sun, on an overcast day. No flash, no ceiling lamp — it casts yellow and makes hard shadows. If the picture has to be brightened later, the light was wrong.
Surface
A smooth, plain background: bed sheet, wooden floor, wall. No patterned carpet, no bed with creases. Otherwise the eye looks for the pattern instead of the piece.
The order that works
- Whole piece from the front, laid flat and without creases.
- Whole piece from the back.
- Neck label with brand and size.
- Care label with material.
- Every flaw, individually and close up.
- If possible: worn, so the cut can be seen.
