Title and description
What people search for goes first. What is honest goes in.
The title
It gets searched, so it should contain the words someone types in: brand, type of piece, colour, size, and if relevant decade or cut. In that order, because the front carries more weight and because long titles get cut off.
- Good: “Carhartt sweatshirt brown L oversized 90s”
- Bad: “Nice warm jumper, see photos!! ”
Exclamation marks, “TOP” and “RARE” add nothing. Nobody searches for them, and they take up space a search term would use better.
The measurements
Sizes on labels are unreliable — depending on brand and decade, L means something different. Measure lying flat and add the numbers:
- Chest width: armpit to armpit, measured flat.
- Length: from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
- Sleeve length: shoulder seam to cuff.
- For trousers: waist flat, inside leg, rise.
Flaws
On a line of their own, with place and size: “small stain on the left sleeve, approx. 5 mm”. Don’t hide them in the running text. It costs a few per cent of the selling price and saves many times that in returns and reviews.
